802.11n devices now Wi-Fi Certified

- 802.11n is backwards compatible with prior 802.11 standards (802.11b, 802.11g) and is designed to accommodate future technology changes.
- 802.11n automatically detects the network type on the other end of the connection and instantly adjusts the speed of the conversation to match it, making it compatible with older 802.11b and 802.11g devices.
- Similarly, you can expect a laptop with an 802.11n network card to work with existing 802.11b or 802.11g networks in the workplace or public hotspot. 802.11n will detect the slower network and adjust its speed accordingly to accommodate that network.
- If an 802.11n wireless router finds an 802.11n laptop, it accelerates to take full advantage of the range and speed of 802.11n.
- The Wi-Fi Alliance has a certification program for draft 2.0 802.11n products. Their testing and certification program guarantees that products will work together, that is that all Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi gear can connect to a certified 802.11n product.
